what are atoms? atoms are the basic building blocks of matter
what are atomic mass? atomic mass is the number of protons and neutrons
what are the modern Atomic Theory? electrons do not travel in definite paths as Bohr suggested, exact path of an electron cannot be predicted, there are regions inside the atom where electrons are likely to be found. These regions are called electron clouds,Sometimes the regions are called orbitals.,The energy of each electron in an atom keeps it in motion around the positive nucleus to which it is attracted.,electrons can move by gaining or losing energy, but they are never found between energy levels
How many models of atomic structure are there? two. Bohr model and the quantum mechanical model
what is the Bohr model? the Bohr model suggest that electrons in atoms are in orbitals of differing energy around the nucleus
what is the Rutherford model? This is a model of the atom by Ernest Rutherford, that suggest that the center of the atom is a small and dense, and positively charged area otherwise known as the nucleus.
what are the subatomic particles? protons, neutrons and electrons
what are the characteristics of nucleus? they are very dense, poitively charged, environments in the center of an atom that contains protons and neutrons
what are the characteristics of protons? they are positively charged particles in the nucleus
what does amu stand for, and what is it used for? atomic mass unit. It is the unit used to indicate the mass on an atom
what are the characteristics of neutrons? they are particles found in the nucleus of an atom, with NO charge but have mass
what are the characteristics of electrons? they are negatively charged particles of an atom, that are found outside the nucleus. They are no mass
